Best Culture Solutions is seeking a Superintendent for our client in the Fort McMurray region. This role is responsible for directing the day-to-day site operations, ensuring safe, productive, and efficient execution of work activities while supporting operational excellence across fuel distribution services at Suncor and Syncrude sites. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
This role works closely with field operations, leadership teams, contractors, and clients to support critical fuel distribution operations that are essential to mining and plant activities.

How You’ll Move the Needle
- Lead day-to-day site operations to ensure safe, productive, and efficient execution of work activities.
- Supervise and coordinate operational activities for assigned work areas.
- Support field operations through planning, scheduling, estimating, and cost control activities.
- Develop a strong understanding of project specifications and scope of work.
- Champion safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while ensuring all site rules and procedures are followed.
- Ensure all operational paperwork, including time sheets, FLRAs, work orders, maintenance requests, and employee change forms, is completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Communicate operational concerns, project updates, and performance metrics to the Operations Manager.
- Lead, performance manage, mentor, and support the development of field personnel and new hires.
- Act as a professional liaison to resolve customer, contractor, and employee concerns.
- Support business growth initiatives and identify opportunities for operational and technological improvements.
- Perform other duties as required to support business operations.
What You Need to Succeed
- Previous experience in a Superintendent or similar site leadership role.
- Strong understanding of industrial operations, preferably within oil and gas, mining, plant, or fuel distribution environments.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and operational best practices.
- Experience supporting planning, scheduling, estimating, and cost control activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with operational documentation and reporting requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to site locations as required.
What Would Give You an Edge
- Experience working on Suncor and/or Syncrude sites.
- Previous experience supporting fuel distribution operations.
- Experience implementing operational improvements or technology enhancements.
- Familiarity with oil and gas and heavy industrial site operations in the Fort McMurray region.
- Experience mentoring and developing frontline supervisors or field personnel.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Fort McMurray, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Superintendent or similar site leadership role: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Licence (preferred)
