This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of chaos testing across the agreed application scope.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to provide regular updates, status reporting, risk communication, and expectation alignment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client regarding chaos testing scope, execution progress, issues, dependencies, and delivery timelines.
- Design chaos test scenarios covering:
- Network condition failures
- UI state failures
- API mock failure injection
- Review and map test cases to appropriate chaos types and execution scenarios.
- Define expected behavior, recovery paths, fallback handling, and pass/fail criteria for chaos scenarios.
- Partner with QA, automation, development, product, and environment teams to prepare for and execute chaos tests.
- Support the setup of network simulation, API mocks, failure injection mechanisms, and UI state test conditions.
- Oversee execution tracking, defect logging, triage, and retesting of fixes.
- Monitor team productivity, execution velocity, quality of deliverables, and adherence to agreed timelines.
- Maintain delivery trackers, test execution dashboards, RAID logs, defect summaries, and client-facing status reports.
- Analyze failures to identify resilience gaps, recovery issues, and user experience impacts.
- Provide recommendations to enhance error handling, retry logic, graceful degradation, and recovery behavior.
- Prepare clear and concise execution updates, defect summaries, leadership reports, and final chaos testing findings.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 6+ years of experience in QA engineering, test automation, resilience testing, chaos testing, or quality engineering.
- Hands-on experience/Exposure in Chaos Testing to assess system resiliency, fault tolerance, and stability.
- Strong proficiency in Java programming with solid object-oriented design principles.
- Expertise in Selenium Automation for web application testing and regression automation.
- Experience with REST Assured for API automation and validation of RESTful services.
- Strong understanding of Automation Framework Design and Architecture, including development of scalable, reusable, and maintainable frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Perfecto for cloud-based web and mobile test automation.
- Experience in Mobile Automation Testing across Android and iOS platforms.
- Strong expertise in Web, API, and Mobile Automation Testing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Passion for Quality Engineering, system resiliency, stability testing, and continuous improvement.
- Experience integrating automation suites with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Prior experience in the Banking or Financial Services domain.
- Knowledge of performance, resiliency, and reliability testing practices.
