Job Summary
We are looking for an Pastry Cook to join our small European-style dessert studio in Cadboro Bay. This position is focused on preparing high-quality desserts, mousse cakes, pastries, creams, fillings, sponge cakes, choux pastry, cookies, tartlets, and daily pastry production.
We are looking for someone who already has professional pastry experience and can work accurately with recipes, measurements, textures, and presentation.
Responsibilities
Prepare components for desserts, mousse cakes, pastries, and cakes according to our recipes and standards.
Make creams, fillings, mousses, ganache, confit, sponges, cookies, tart shells, choux pastry, and other pastry preparations.
Assist with assembling and finishing desserts for the display case and custom orders.
Bake pastry items and prepare daily production for the café.
Follow recipes carefully and maintain consistency in taste, texture, size, and presentation.
Keep the pastry kitchen clean, organized, and sanitary.
Work efficiently and calmly in a small professional kitchen.
Help with packaging, labeling, and organizing finished products.
Monitor ingredients and communicate when supplies are low.
Experience and Skills
Minimum 1 year of professional pastry or dessert production experience required.
Experience with cakes, mousse desserts, creams, fillings, sponges, cookies, tartlets, or choux pastry is strongly preferred.
Ability to follow recipes accurately and work with gram measurements.
Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization.
Ability to work independently after training.
Comfortable working in a small team and helping with daily production.
Food Safe certification is an asset.
