Manage all aspects of EHS in the plant to drive Health and safety as well as all environmental aspects according to law and legitlation and to respective norms. Develop, define and implement short and long-term strategies to achieve departmental goals and site objectives, while reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) regularly.
- Chair JEHSC meetings, present to daitly SFM-1 & SFM-2 meetings on important EHS stats, incidents and information.
- Prepare, review and edit documentation related to all EHS aspects including Policies & Procedures, Risk Assessments, JHA’s, Ergonomic assessments, SDS reviews, EHS related training.
- Document & report on EHS kpi’s internally and externally as required. Set annual targets for Continuous Improvement and use Root Cause and Statistical analysis to determine Corrective Actions to achieve them.
- Oversee and/or participate in First Aid, Accident and Near Miss investigations. Using Root Cause Analysis, develop corrective action plans to efficiently and effectively prevent recurrence. Oversee the followup on the corrective action plan.
- Work closely with Engineering and other experts (internal/external) on projects where there are new processes, equipment and/or modifications to processes and equipment to provide input on EHS related issues. Ensure that legal and corporate requirements are addressed during all phases of the project.
- Developing relationships with employees that allows for open and honest sharing of concerns, building trust and morale. Working with HR and Supervisors in situations that overlap with EHS and may require discipline or discussions that could require privacy and sensitivity to achieve a positive outcome.
- Analyzing data to set and/or review performance goals, justify projects and review effectiveness of results.
- Chair joint environmental, health and safety committee meetings, oversee changes to policy and procedure to address issues and work towards continuous improvement in KPI’s.
- Continuous improvement in the areas of chemical substitution, waste and recycling to reduce our impact on people and the environment and wherever possible, reducing costs.
- Preparing & reviewing risk assessments and implementing improvements to eliminate or mitigate risk.
- Participate in Safety inspections, emergency response drills & training
- Performing tests using instrumentation (e.g. noise, air quality, water quality) to establish & maintain standards, ensure safe working conditions and improve process conditions/stability.
- Lead, coach, and motivate employees within respective area of responsibility, while defining, coordinating and executing departmental goals and site objectives
- Assure compliance with ISO certifications and coordinate and support ISO (certification/recertification)
- Supervise the internal auditing program

- Formal Education and Training
- Formal post-secondary education in environmental, health & safety and related work experience. Completion of various professional development activities.
Occupational Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS role
- Additional Knowledge Requirements

Pay: $55,427.00-$65,000.00 per year
