RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, coordinates and implements in-home nursing services under the direction of the HCC Nurse Manager, and in conjunction with KO community Nurse in Charge and community Health Director.
- Works with a team of Personal Support Workers (PSW’s), unregulated healthcare providers, and other healthcare professionals in the program.
- Maintains a relationship with the medical professionals in the community, the Chief and Council, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain current skills through attendance at workshops, in-service and staff meetings.
- Assists the HCC Nurse Manager with preparing reports for the KO Director of Nursing (DON) and annual year end reports for Health Canada.
- Performs other duties requested by HCC Nurse Manager, KO Health Director, or DON.
- Charting using the Tellus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- A Registered Nurse (RN)/ Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering nursing care in a home or community setting.
- Advanced Foot Care certified; Mental Health nursing an asset.
- Knowledge on culture and tradition of remote First Nation communities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak Ojibway, Oji-Cree, or Cree an asset.
- Ability to prepare and submit reports.
- Basic computer skills and willing to learn a new Tellus system.
- Awareness of working with unregulated Health Workers; Transfer/Delegation of Skills, processes and requirements.

- Schedule: Rotational basis 2-4 weeks in communities. To be discussed
