Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator plays a vital role for the Macklan Group of Companies. In this role, you will assist with ordering materials and equipment needed for effective and continuous flow of production for our construction and manufacturing process, and support ProBuild sales from Eastcut stock inventory. Your role will serve as a vital link between Eastcut Structural & Modular projects and our supply chain; this role will be crucial in ensuring that our projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality of standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Purchasing Manager with day-to-day assignments as required
- Contact vendors and research costs and availability details of required materials, especially in construction materials, finish materials and hardware
- Acknowledge production material and service requests, optimally responding within one working day
- Work with the Finance team to review and resolve invoices
- Ensure clear and concise communication with all relevant parties to maintain active awareness of status, advising on ETAs, delays and shipment tracking
- Collaborating with the Purchasing Manager, negotiate in confidence with vendors, maintaining discretion and ensuring integrity
- As directed by the Purchasing Manager, assist in sourcing new suppliers, maintaining a database of reliable contacts
- Work with Logistics & Warehousing team as required relating to physical inventory counts and cycle counts
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Supply Chain, or Construction Management, or significant relevant experience
- Significant experience in procurement, preferably in construction, finished goods and/or hardware products
- Highly organized and detail focused
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a customer service focus, and a professional demeanor
- Sound knowledge of mathematics, with understanding of gross margin and mark-up calculations
- Experience with quantity estimating from drawings or RFQs (square footage, board measure, volume measure)
- A strong understanding of MS Office Suite and the ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Experience with ERP software (ProCore, Acumatica) considered an asset
- Adaptable, with the aptitude to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing needs and priorities
- Ability to work independently, and be part of a collaborative team
