The Old York Tavern is seeking a passionate, reliable, and motivated Cook to join our team.
We are a neighbourhood tavern with French and American brasserie influence.
We are open 7 days a week for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch services.
As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality food preparation, presentation, and maintaining a positive kitchen environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced and collaborative kitchen with room to grow your culinary skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items following recipes and presentation guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Assist with daily prep work and stock rotation
- Communicate effectively with the team to address any issues or shortages
- Contribute to a positive, energetic atmosphere within the kitchen
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen experience as a line cook or prep cook preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods
