Job Title: Assistant Ice Cream Maker/Pastry Cook
Starting wage: $18.50/hour; + tips.
*minimum one weekend shift required
*Seasonal Part time position
Minimum 16-24 hours/week
2-3 shifts weekly; to be determined, of which one day is a Saturday or Sunday (preferred Sat & Sunday)
Flexible shift start times, upon completion of training
Required Skillsets:
- accountability
- food safe certification
- preferred basic pastry training, however we are willing to train the right candidate
- excellent written and verbal communication
- critical analytical thinking and decision making
- professionalism and leading by example
- teamwork and ability to work independently
- able to lift items up to 50 lbs
- ability to work with a team and independently
Duties:
- Prepare and create a variety of ice cream flavors and pastry items according to established recipes and standards
- Operate ice cream making equipment, including mixers, churners, and freezers
- Monitor and adjust temperatures and ingredients to ensure proper consistency and quality of ice cream
- Follow health and safety guidelines in handling and storing ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, including equipment, utensils, and storage areas
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a catering or restaurant environment is preferred
- Must be eligible to work in BC and have at least 1-year work visa
- Knowledge of ice cream making techniques and equipment is a plus
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently
- Strong attention to detail to ensure quality control
- Excellent time management skills to meet production deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and customers
