We are currently looking for a passionate and patient Music Teacher to join our team and inspire our elementary-level students.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced educator to lead our elementary music program. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic classroom environment where young learners can discover their love for music. You will be responsible for developing lesson plans, teaching fundamental musical concepts, and adapting your instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging music lessons for elementary-aged students.
- Teach foundational music theory, rhythm, and practical instrument skills.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Certification (Primary/Junior divisions), OR demonstrable experience teaching music within a private school setting.
- Min. Bachelor Degree in Music would be an asset.
- Proven experience teaching music to elementary-aged children.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- A patient, empathetic approach to instruction.
Strong Assets
- Special Education Experience: Hands-on experience working with students who have learning challenges (e.g., ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, or processing disorders) is highly preferred.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and create adaptive lesson plans for neurodivergent learners.
- Familiarity with the Ontario curriculum expectations for the arts.
