Position Summary
Aquatech is currently seeking a full-time Senior Operator / Operations Lead to support water and wastewater operations and maintenance across multiple sites in Southwestern Ontario. This role is ideal for an experienced operator who can provide senior-level operational support, lead by example in the field, oversee compliance and process performance, and help ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of municipal water and wastewater facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Lead / Senior Operator across multiple water and wastewater facilities throughout Southwestern Ontario
- Provide hands-on operational leadership, technical guidance, and day-to-day support to site staff and operators
- Monitor treatment performance, review operational data, and make process adjustments to maintain efficiency and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate sampling, testing, reporting, and documentation to support compliance with applicable legislation and operating requirements
- Support and coordinate routine and preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and long-term asset performance
- Assist with troubleshooting, operator mentoring, site coverage, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple facilities
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, distribution, and collection systems
- Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater operations and maintenance, ideally in a senior or lead capacity
- Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and Ontario water and wastewater compliance requirements
- Ability to lead field operations, prioritize work across multiple sites, and respond effectively to operational issues
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills related to treatment systems, pumps, and process equipment
- Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and support team performance
- Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, clients, and regulatory stakeholders
Mandatory Requirements
- Water and Wastewater Treatment Licenses (Level 1 or higher preferred); Operators-in-Training will also be considered
- Valid Class G driver's license in good standing and willingness to travel between multiple sites
- Ability to work outdoors and travel to various facilities in different weather and site conditions
- Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting, climbing, and other hands-on maintenance and operational duties
- Ability to work independently while also providing guidance and support within a team environment
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
