COMMUNITY YOUTH WORKER
(1 Permanent Part-time Position Available – Female Applicant Only)
About the position:
McMan’s Family Intervention Services Program is seeking an experienced Community Youth Worker who is passionate about supporting youth in reaching their full potential. If you have experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous communities, an understanding of family dynamics and trauma-informed practice, and a talent for building positive, meaningful relationships, we encourage you to apply.
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Community Youth Worker provides individualized support, supervision, and guidance to youth participating in the program. This role is responsible for case planning and case management, facilitating skill development, and coordinating recreational, educational, and community-based activities that align with each youth’s strengths, interests, and goals.
Working collaboratively with youth, families, caregivers, and community partners, the Community Youth Worker uses a strengths-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approach to promote positive outcomes, enhance life skills, and support youth in achieving their personal, social, and developmental goals.

Hours: This position guarantees a minimum of 22 hours per week. Additional hours may be available based on program needs and employee availability.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta and Surrounding area
What you’ll do:
· Support youth in developing a range of healthy individual coping and problem-solving skills
· Promote community inclusion by engaging and supporting the youth with their interests
· Effectively support and counsel youth, utilizing strong observational and listening skills
· Provide youth with information, guidance and resources on how to access and use various support networks
· Demonstrate a wide range of skills and knowledge of intervention resources and methods.
· Ability to engage youth creatively through innovative and culturally respectful approaches.
· Comfortable and willing to drive regularly to Indigenous Nations.
What you bring:
· Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtaining registration within three months of hire.
· 2 years of directly related experience in youth and/or family work
· Police Information Check; including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Current Emergency First Aid-Level C CPR + AED
· Class 5 driver’s license, current driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle, $2 Million auto insurance and comfort with driving to various locations are required. Three years’ driving experience with a valid class 5 license is an asset.
· Organizational skills and ability to prioritize
· Strong counseling, mediation, crisis intervention, program planning and communication skills
· Excellent knowledge of the Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act
