We are seeking a QA Lead with a strong background in the Finance Accounting and Insurance domain to validate financial systems and processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on testing experience across core accounting modules and insurance finance workflows, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and reliability of financial reporting.
In this role, you will
Design, execute, and validate test cases covering core financial accounting processes within an insurance environment.
Perform functional and system testing for General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) modules.
Test end-to-end insurance finance workflows, including policy-to-billing-to-collections and claims-to-payment cycles.
Test and verify financial calculations and reports, including Agency Bill and Direct Bill reports, commission calculations, and reporting.
Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data and support test evidence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, IT, Business Analysts) to ensure test coverage aligns with business requirements.
Required skills:
Overall 8+ years of experience in Financial Accounting testing, with substantial exposure to the Insurance domain.
Must have a deep understanding of Finance Accounting, Insurance Finance operations, accounting principles, and related testing methodologies.
Strong, hands-on testing expertise in:
General Ledger (GL).
Accounts Payable (AP).
Accounts Receivable (AR).
Agency Bill and Direct Bill reports.
Commission calculations and reporting.
Monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) reconciliation reports.
End-to-end insurance finance workflows and financial reporting processes.
Proven experience leading QA efforts while maintaining a hands-on approach to test script creation and execution.
Good understanding of software testing lifecycles, test planning, execution, and defect management.
Preferred skills
Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter (highly preferred)
Working knowledge of SAP (finance modules) is a plus.
Basic SQL knowledge.

Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 85,000 – 110,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
