Electrical Panel Shop Manager
Overview
Synergy Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced Electrical Panel Shop Manager to lead our industrial control panel manufacturing facility in Coquitlam, BC.
This position is intended for an individual with extensive experience managing an electrical panel shop or industrial electrical manufacturing operation. We are looking for a hands-on leader who is passionate about safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and who has a strong understanding of electrical drawings, production scheduling, quality control, and leading electricians and panel builders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Who Should Apply
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following:
- Industrial electrical control panel manufacturing
- MCC and PLC control panel assembly
- Industrial automation or systems integration
- Electrical equipment manufacturing
- Electrical contracting with significant shop management experience
This position is not suitable for candidates whose experience is limited to residential or commercial construction, warehouse supervision, or general production management without industrial electrical manufacturing experience.
Duties
- Supervise the daily operations of the electrical panel shop, coordinating assembly, wiring, testing, and production activities.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of electricians, panel builders, apprentices, and technicians.
- Plan and schedule production to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and mechanical drawings to ensure accurate assembly.
- Assign work, monitor productivity, and balance workloads to maximize shop efficiency.
- Ensure all electrical wiring and component installations comply with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements.
- Coordinate material requirements with Purchasing and Project Management to maintain production schedules.
- Monitor inventory of electrical components and shop supplies.
- Conduct quality inspections on completed panels, verifying proper assembly, wiring integrity, testing, and functionality prior to shipment.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve shop processes, productivity, and overall operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Field Services to ensure successful project execution.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Minimum 7 years of industrial electrical experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading an electrical panel shop or manufacturing team.
- Experience interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
- Experience planning shop production, scheduling work, and allocating resources.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and CSA standards.
- Experience supervising electricians, panel builders, and apprentices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal Industrial Electrician certification.
- Electrical Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
- PMP certification or Lean Manufacturing experience.
