The CDPPH team is a large, multidisciplinary department responsible for Public Health and Communicable Disease management for all nurses working in First Nations communities across British Columbia. This scope includes STBBI, Tuberculosis, Maternal and Child Health, Immunizations, Infection Prevention and Control, and broader Communicable Disease management, as well as clinical oversight, education, certifications, and competency development. Effective leadership of this team requires a deep appreciation for cultural safety and trauma informed care, strong alignment with public health priorities, and robust human resource management skills.
Title: Communicable Disease, Population and Public Health Nurse Manager (CDPPH)
Salary: $114, 892 - $135,167- $155,443 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Metro Vancouver Office: Alberni Office, on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations - Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy).Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway in Spring 2027.
About the role
The Nurse Manager, Communicable Disease Population & Public Health, provides strategic and clinical leadership to coordinate, manage, and evaluate communicable disease control and prevention programs, including vaccine-preventable diseases, respiratory infections such as TB, and emerging communicable disease threats. The role leads training, professional practice, and program support for nurses and health professionals, oversees outbreak and pandemic planning and response, and ensures evidence-based guidance for communities and partners. This position builds and sustains strong partnerships with First Nations communities, regional and provincial health organizations, and intergovernmental bodies to clarify roles, reduce health inequities, and strengthen public health outcomes. Responsibilities include program planning, surveillance, performance measurement, budget and human resource management, people leadership, and continuous quality improvement, with a strong focus on culturally informed public health practice for Indigenous populations.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have-
Education

Master’s Degree in Public Health or Nursing from a recognized university and successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or other specialty relevant to the position or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Occupational Certification

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

Eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse in BC

Possession of a (BCCNP) practicing license
Experience
-
Five (5) + years of experience in developing, planning, and implementing community Health Programs, working in collaboration with a variety of nursing and First Nations organizations to promote nursing in First Nations communities, and financial and human resource management.
Knowledge

Knowledge and skills associated with a variety of First Nation patient populations to develop, manage and evaluate public and community health protection, promotion, and disease prevention programs.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.
The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
