We are seeking a skilled and motivated Event Sous Chef to support our Executive Chef and help lead the successful execution of all culinary event operations.
Position Overview
The Event Sous Chef plays a key leadership role within the event culinary team, working directly under the guidance of the Executive Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional event execution. This role is responsible for overseeing menu development, food preparation, supervising culinary staff, maintaining quality standards, and supporting event logistics in a fast-paced catering and events environment.
The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, and thrives under pressure while delivering high-quality food and service across multiple events.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Execution & Support
Ø Envision, design, cost and execute menus and culinary standards as directed by the Executive Chef.
Ø Oversee & participate with food preparation, production, plating, and event execution for weddings, corporate events, galas, and private functions.
Ø Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and meet presentation and quality expectations.
Ø Support menu tastings and event preparation as required.
Event Kitchen Operations
Ø Oversee daily kitchen operations related to event production.
Ø Scheduling and shift approval of Event Chefs & Cooks
Ø Coordinate ordering & prep to ensure timely execution for multiple concurrent events.
Ø Support off-site catering logistics including packing, transportation, setup, and breakdown.
Ø Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in all kitchen and event environments.
Team Supervision
Ø Supervise Event Chefs & Cooks, prep staff, and event culinary team members during production and service.
Ø Provide training, guidance, and support to these staff under the direction of the Executive Chef.
Ø Help foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture.
Ø Scheduling and event staffing coordination.
Operational & Administrative Support
Ø Assist with inventory management, ordering, and receiving of products.
Ø Costing of menu items and direct monitoring of food costs
Ø Efficient scheduling and labour cost management.
Ø Help monitor food usage and minimize waste during production and events.
Ø Ensure all equipment and supplies required for events are properly prepared and maintained.
Ø Support overall kitchen operations, adherence to company systems, procedures, and operational standards.
Qualifications
Ø Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience.
Ø Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a leadership kitchen role, preferably in catering, banquets, hotels, or event operations.
Ø Strong knowledge of high-volume food production and event execution.
Ø Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Ø Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ø Knowledge of payroll/scheduling, food costing/inventory, and event planning software
Ø Valid Food Safe certification
Ø Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
Ø Strong leadership skills with a collaborative and hands-on approach.

Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
