WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and competent early childhood educator to be a part of our dynamic team! Our Centre strives to be inclusive and offers a high quality environment that supports and facilitates optimal development of the whole child. Experience working or volunteering in Licensed child care in Nova Scotia will be considered an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Early Childhood Educator certification. Must have a level 1, 2 or 3
- Current First Aid (CPR-B or C) certificate.
- Ability to provide professional references.
- Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of training related to child growth/development.
- Experience working in a childcare or recreational setting.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector & Child Abuse Registry Check
Program Responsibilities
- In collaboration with co-teachers, plans and implements daily activities, including creative, active/quiet activities, indoor/outdoor activities, free play/structured activities, and large and small group/individual activities that are developmentally appropriate.
- Stays updated on new program ideas and activities using new resources, networking, and sharing resources with other teachers.
- Maintains resource files for personal use and use by others for planning purposes.
- Maintains updated supply list for classroom and notifies Director of program needs.
- Organizes space, equipment and materials as needed for activities in advance, and in compliance with Day Care Act and Regulations and centre policies.
- Plans and implements activities which stimulate creativity, learning, curiosity, exploration, community and multicultural awareness and self-help skills.
- Plans, implements and evaluates Individual Program Plans (IPP's) as needed.
- Participates in team conferences relating to IPP’s with parents, specialists and Director.
- Completes progress reports on children twice per year (November/June) and meets with parents to discuss individual child’s progress/development.
- Complies with centre policies and procedures, philosophy and mission statement.
- Establishes and follows daily schedule for classroom
