Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Meat Cutter to join our dynamic food service team. In this role, you will be responsible for expertly preparing and cutting meat products to meet quality standards and customer expectations. Your expertise will ensure that all meat is handled safely, efficiently, and with precision, contributing to a positive shopping experience for our customers. Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, debone, and prepare beef, goat, lamb, chicken, and other meat products to customer specifications.
- Portion and package meat products for retail display.
- Grind meat and prepare specialty cuts as required.
- Maintain attractive, well-stocked meat displays.
- Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO) and monitor freshness.
- Receive and inspect meat deliveries for quality and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain butcher equipment, including meat saws, grinders, slicers, and knives.
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure freshness of all products
- Collaborate with team members to manage inventory levels and restock displays as needed
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies related to food handling, hygiene, and workplace safety skills.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in the food industry, particularly in food preparation or butchery, is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of meat cutting techniques and different types of meat cuts
- Excellent understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to operate knives, saws, scales, and packaging equipment safely and efficiently
- Good customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Experience handling beef, goat, lamb, poultry, and other meats.
- Strong knife skills.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
