CNC Machinist – Siemens Flat-Bed Lathes (VDF, TUR, Weiler)

About the Role
We are looking for experienced CNC Machinists to join our growing team on either day or night shift. This position is focused on operating Siemens-controlled flat-bed lathes, including VDF, TUR, and Weiler machines, producing precision components for the oilfield, energy, mining, and industrial sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who can independently set up, program, troubleshoot, and optimize machining processes while contributing to a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Siemens-controlled flat-bed CNC lathes (VDF, TUR, Weiler).
- Machine long, heavy, and precision components to drawing requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, and GD&T.
- Perform machine setups, tooling changes, offset adjustments, and process optimization.
- Make program edits and troubleshooting adjustments directly at the control.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Maintain tool life, machine performance, and quality standards throughout production runs.
- Complete production reporting and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and throughput.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong experience operating Siemens-controlled flat-bed CNC lathes.
- Experience with VDF, TUR, Weiler, or similar long-bed turning centers.
- Ability to independently perform setups and troubleshoot machining issues.
- Strong understanding of turning processes, tooling applications, and workholding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Competent using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred:
- Journeyman Machinist certification.
- Experience machining oilfield, tubular, or large-diameter components.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or junior machinists.
