Purpose of role

The role of the Mortgage Specialist reports to the Manager, Internal Sales and is responsible for owning 2 key aspects of the business (1) being the liaison between the credit team and borrowers to ensure a better lending experience (servicing direct to consumer, internal referrals, and existing borrowers) (2) being involved in the setup and implementation of all supplementary products to accompany the Strive mortgage offering (while continuously adapting to ensure success of the product).

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the handling of title changes, mortgage assumptions, and port requests, ensuring compliance with policies, risk mitigation, and a smooth borrower experience.
- Sell and service Credit Security Plan (CSP) policies and other supplementary products to enhance borrower protection.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required in support of departmental and organizational objectives.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting colleagues and taking on tasks beyond core duties as needed.
- Participate in ad hoc projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives as required by management.
- Ensure sound knowledge of Strive mortgage products, services, and innovative technologies as well as competitor’s products.
- Remain up to date on Mortgage Insurance products, alternative lending products, services and eligibility.
- Maintain a professional, solutions-oriented attitude when interacting with clients, colleagues, and leadership. Proactively seek ways to support the team’s success beyond defined responsibilities.
- Work with the credit team to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and communicate the approval or decline of applications based on credit decisioning.
- Gather any necessary information required to coordinate and analyze credit applications and ensure consistent, objective, and sound credit decisions in a high-volume environment.
- Onboard deals in the Loan Origination System.
- Work with borrowers to obtain mortgage documentation to fulfill their loan applications and conditions.
- Ensure the attainment of service standards for processing applications in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Resolve any escalated credit issues, reply to internal and external client queries, and communicate credit decisions.
- Oversee and action all customer complaints in accordance with Strive’s Customer Complaints Policy.
- Build and document policies, procedures, and processes for the end-to-end customer experience.
- Assist in the renewal process for both Strive and Aspire as required.
Regulatory
Complete all mandatory training, specifically:
- Regulatory
- Privacy
- Compliance and risk management
- AML/ATF
- Quality Assurance
You will bring
- A university degree is an asset.
- Must be registered as Level 2 Mortgage Agent with FSRA.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a high aptitude for building client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to flourish in a high-volume environment.
- An ability to quickly assess and make accurate decisions.
- Commitment to growing as an individual by constantly learning and staying on top of industry changes.
- Working knowledge of all 3 Mortgage Insurer programs and guidelines.
- Detailed working knowledge of principles of residential mortgage underwriting and risk management, as well as real estate markets nationally a plus.
- Previous single-family residential mortgage underwriting experience.
- Previous mortgage servicing experience.
- Positive attitude and commitment to drive company growth with exceptional customer service, strong team collaboration and sound credit decisioning.
- Must be an adaptable team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
- Competency in Microsoft Office; capacity to learn new technologies/systems i.e., CRM.
Employment Type
Full time with hours of operation being 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 pm EST (currently remote and in-person hybrid working environment).

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
