Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Freight Operations Coordinator to manage end-to-end shipment handling for either import or export freight, across ocean (FTL/LCL) and air modes. This role owns the shipment lifecycle from booking through delivery, working closely with overseas agents, carriers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate import or export shipments via ocean (FTL and LCL) and air freight
- Prepare, verify, and manage OBLs and AWBs
- Liaise directly with overseas agents to manage shipment handoffs, documentation, and issue resolution
- Prepare customs documentation and supporting paperwork for cross-border movement
- Monitor shipment status end-to-end and proactively update customers
- Manage exception handling, including customs holds, carrier delays, and documentation discrepancies
- Maintain accurate shipment records in our freight management system
- Support accurate invoicing by ensuring profit and cost data is correctly recorded per shipment
- Work collaboratively within the operations team while managing own workload with minimal supervision
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within freight forwarder operations, with hands-on OBL/AWB handling
- Demonstrated experience working with overseas agents on shipment coordination
- Solid understanding of FTL and LCL ocean freight processes
- Working knowledge of Incoterms and customs documentation for cross-border trade
- Experience with freight management systems is an asset
- Strong Excel skills
- Self-starter who also works well as part of a team
- CIFFA certification or equivalent is an asset
