Cosmopolitan Industries has an exciting opportunity for those experienced in Building Maintenance! This will be a permanent part-time role with benefits working approx. 20 hours per week between Monday to Friday. Work hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with flexibility for changes as required by operational needs.
Job Summary:
The Building Maintenance Worker, under the direction of the Facilities Manager is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair for Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd. The incumbent completes general carpentry and maintenance work as required. The Building Maintenance Worker also performs basic repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop effective working relationships with all staff and program participants to ensure a respectful and positive work environment is achieved.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and minor repairs on building, facilities and vehicles belonging to Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd. (carpentry and construction, plumbing, painting etc.).
- Perform regular workplace inspections to determine areas that need maintenance or repair; advise Facilities Manager of required major repairs or replacements.
- Ensure that any required maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain adequate supplies for the maintenance department.
- Comply with Saskatchewan OH&S safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Safely use a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment while performing duties.
- Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
· May be required to work flexible work hours/days
· Works both indoors and outdoors – including snow cleaning and yard care.
· Repair and maintenance of roof top is required; incumbent must be comfortable working on a ladder and/or with heights
· Environment may expose workers to extreme heat/cold, paper dust, chemicals, diesel fumes, and unusual or strong odors
· Personal protective equipment required for various activities/tasks e.g. steel-toed boots, safety classes/goggles, safety vest, hearing protection etc.
Skills, Effort and Competencies:
Education
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
Qualifications
Valid Saskatchewan Driver’s license; must maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.
Experience
Experience completing minor repairs and preventative building maintenance in an industrial setting is desirable.
Communication Skills
Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions both orally and in writing is essential.
Physical Demands
Long periods of standing and/or bending may be required. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Mental Demands
High level of sound and independent judgement and reasoning ability. Ability to work well under pressure and within established timelines. Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a changing environment.
Other
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong problem solving skills. Excellent time management. Willingness to participate in and apply relevant training as requested/required by Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.
