We are currently recruiting for the following positions:
Registered Nurse – Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team under the direct supervision of a Unit Manager or Director of Care to meet resident’s care needs
Education Required:
- Successful completion of a BSN course
- Standard First Aid or Basic Life Support- CPR/Choking Adult
- Recognized Pharmacology Course and experience in the administration of medications
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
- Alzheimer's Disease Course preferred
Licensed Practical Nurse – Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Unit Manager to meet resident’s care needs
Education Required:
- Successful completion of a recognized LPN course or an RN degree
- Standard First Aid or Basic Life Support- CPR/Choking Adult
- Recognized Pharmacology Course and experience in the administration of medications
- Current registration with the NSCN
- Alzheimer's Disease Course preferred
Continuing Care Assistant – Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, CCA assists all residents in accordance to their care plans and activities of daily living
Education Preferred:
- Successful completion of CCA/PCW course
- Standard First Aid or Basic Life Support- CPR/Choking Adult
- Experience in long term care or similar environment is considered an asset
- Alzheimer's Disease Course preferred
- Will hire PCW working towards CCA Certification once Clinical Placement has begun
- Will accept RN, LPN and CCA students
Competencies for all roles:
- RNs will work within the CRNNS Scope of Practice
- LPNs will work within the NSCN Scope of Practice
- CCAs will work within their Scope of Practice
- Ability to work 8-hr and/or 12-hr shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays included)
- Personal care of residents, including restorative care and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Effective communication both written and verbal in English
- Possesses exemplary Customer Service skills
- Reliable with good attendance and cheerful disposition
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of the organization
- Must take initiative and able to work with minimum supervision
- Respectful and hardworking team player
- Demonstrate the use of proper body mechanics
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment
- Police check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Request in the last 3 months is required
