The Job!
As Shear Operator, you will set up and operate shear machinery to cut materials according to precise specifications. You will also:
- Interpret work orders and track job progress to ensure timely completion
- Measure and inspect materials, using both metric and imperial systems, to verify accuracy
- Adjust machine settings to maintain high quality, efficiency, and productivity
- Optimize material usage to minimize waste
- Safely handle raw materials and finished products using proper lifting techniques
- Keep the workspace clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals
- Identify and report any quality, equipment, or safety concerns
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support operations
What you bring to the job
You are someone with hands-on experience with steel and aluminum materials. You also come with:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience operating shear machinery in a manufacturing environment
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Physically able to stand for long periods and handle materials in a production setting
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds repetitively
