We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Manager (Part-Time) to serve as the primary food safety and quality management authority for our Concord facility. This part-time role offers the opportunity to lead our food safety compliance program, oversee facility quality assurance initiatives, and ensure adherence to all regulatory and industry standards. This role is designed to provide leadership and oversight of the food safety and quality management system, ensuring maintenance of the company’s certifications. Day-to-day operational execution is supported by Operations and Management.
What You Will Do
- Lead and manage the facility's food safety program, ensuring compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) principles and Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) across all operational areas: warehousing, storage, distribution, and repackaging operations
- Maintain and continuously improve documented food safety systems, including Preventive Controls, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and allergen management protocols in alignment with CFIA and regulatory requirements
- Maintain comprehensive food safety documentation, including HACCP records, audit reports, training logs, corrective action records, and regulatory correspondence
- Conduct routine and periodic physical inspections and audits of the facility, warehouse, repackaging areas, and storage zones to verify adherence to food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and operational standards
- Lead the food safety function and culture; set expectations for compliance, provide training and development, and foster a culture of food safety awareness across all staff levels
- Coordinate with vendors and customers on quality assurance requirements; prepare and deliver QA requests, specifications, and compliance documentation; ensure supplier and customer alignment with facility standards
- Manage third-party audits and customer-specific audit programs; represent the company and coordinate remediation of audit findings
- Conduct internal audits and validation activities to verify the effectiveness of food safety and quality control measures; document findings and drive corrective action implementation
- Partner with Operations and Maintenance teams to identify and resolve food safety risks, facility compliance gaps, and sanitation/housekeeping issues; coordinate preventive maintenance as needed
- Manage supplier quality requirements, including incoming inspection protocols and supplier compliance verification to ensure ingredient and material safety
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, customer food safety inquiries, and incident response; participate in recalls or product safety investigations as needed
What We're Looking ForExperience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of food safety and quality assurance experience in food manufacturing, ingredient distribution, warehousing, or food processing operations
- Certified as a HACCP practitioner with hands-on experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HACCP systems in food manufacturing, ingredient distribution, warehousing, or similar operational environments.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage quality and food safety programs with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) and CFIA compliance requirements; experience developing and maintaining SFCR-aligned food safety systems is strongly preferred
- Proven expertise in internal auditing and food safety validation (including microbiological, sanitation, and environmental monitoring); Internal Audit certification or equivalent audit experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience managing third-party food safety audits, including preparation, coordination, and remediation of non-conformances
- Strong knowledge of Canadian food safety regulatory requirements (CFIA, Health Canada, provincial regulations)
- Experience coordinating with vendors and customers on quality assurance requirements; familiarity with vendor qualification and customer specification management
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and Management on food safety initiatives
- Postsecondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, Quality Management, or a related discipline is strongly preferred; relevant professional certifications (HACCP, Internal Audit, Quality Management) are valued highly
Technical & Industry Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety hazards (biological, chemical, physical, allergen) and risk mitigation strategies
- Proficiency with food safety management systems, including digital or paper-based documentation, non-conformance tracking, and corrective action management
- Ability to conduct facility walkthroughs, assess sanitation effectiveness, and identify compliance gaps and improvement opportunities
- Knowledge of supplier quality programs, specification development, and incoming material verification
- Familiarity with ingredient specifications, labeling requirements, and traceability systems in food manufacturing and distribution
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability with the ability to influence and motivate teams at all levels
- Excellent vendor and customer relationship management skills; ability to communicate quality requirements clearly and professionally
- Detail-oriented with meticulous attention to regulatory compliance, documentation, and standard adherence

Compensation & Benefits
- $40-55 hourly rate based on qualifications and experience
- 24 hours (3 work days) a week onsite, schedule to be mutually agreed
