The Construction Project Assistant role includes completing administration tasks on existing building envelope maintenance, rehabilitation, and renewal construction projects with permitting and related tasks. This is for a one-year fixed term contract with the potential to become a permanent position. This role is flexible and can be in office (Burnaby), hybrid or remote.
- Pre-Construction Phase:
- Preparation of construction documents for bidding
- Help administers tender process
- Assists in administering bid process and drafts Letters of Intent and award
- Preparation of Contracts
- Construction Phase:
- Preparing monthly payment claim
- Preparing all Change Orders
- Complete all mathematical reconciliations for contingency and extra claims
- Ensuring contract submittals are up to date
- Ensuring all items listed on Admin form are complete and on time
- Responding to information with client and superintendent as required
- Liaises contractors and consultants
- Assists project manager(s) with preparing construction budgets and forecasts
- Assists with receipt, quotation, and resolution of changes
- Ensures builder’s lien legislation is adhered to by preparing holdback documentation for retention and release
- Post Construction Phase:
- Preparing notices of completion
- Collects, tracks, and evaluates contract submittals
- Administers building permit closure with municipalities
- Obtain warranty documents and other necessary info
- Monitor/record future warranty review dates
- Settle all accounts and finalize all cost issues
- Experience as project assistant, or contract administrator ideally with a general contractor or large trade contractor is an asset.
- Knowledge of building enclosure design and construction principles is an asset
- Basic knowledge of construction project management and contract administration standard processes and best practices
- Experience working with CCDC contracts is an asset
- Ability to build working relationships and communicate effectively with RDH staff, clients, owners, trades, consultants, and other stakeholders
- Ability to shift focus between changing priorities and work on multiple tasks
- Ability to assess and execute time-sensitive action items
- Comfortable and fluent with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Adaptable, amenable, and quick learner
The base salary range for this position is $55,000 – $70,000 annualized for a full-time role. Salary is dependent various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for discretionary incentives and share ownership.
