GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Sterilization Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of reusable instrumentation and equipment within our facility. The Sterilization Technician adheres to strict protocols and standards to maintain a sterile environment and prevent healthcare-associated infections.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilization, and storage of reusable instrumentation and equipment according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Operate sterilization equipment and machinery effectively and safely, ensuring proper sterilization of instruments.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the availability of sterilized equipment for patient care procedures.
- Assist in maintaining inventory levels of sterile supplies and reorder supplies as needed.
- Participate in quality control measures, including monitoring sterilization processes and documenting sterilization records accurately.
- Perform laundry duties as part of the team, ensuring cleanliness and proper handling of linens and textiles.
- Adhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role may be required to perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Medical Device Reprocessing (MDRAO) certification or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a sterilization technician in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Access to transportation and a willingness to travel within our 4 locations as needed is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical device reprocessing techniques and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to maintaining a sterile and safe working environment.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and weekends as needed.
- Medical Device Reprocessing Certification (preferred).
The successful candidate will travel between of our 4 locations as required.
