Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team, providing expert maintenance and repair services for our fleet of hydrovac and vac trucks. This is an afternoon/evening role that may require a degree of schedule flexibility and travel to sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with hydrovacs, including hydraulics, boilers, pumps, and general chassis maintenance and repairs. This role requires a strong mechanical background, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to stay organized to manage a fleet of ~20 trucks.
Duties and Required Skills
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of hydrovac and chassis issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as 250, 500, and CVIP maintenance and inspections.
- Previous CVIP experience is required.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely to disassemble and reassemble machinery.
- You will need to provide your own tools, but will have an expense account to purchase required tools as needed.
- Perform heavy lifting and awkward tasks safely using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operation before returning it to service.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all work activities.
- Proven mechanic experience is required.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting purposes.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Good customer service skills for interacting with clients or internal teams regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is preferred for comprehensive diagnostics.
- Ability to maintain a large fleet of trucks, manage maintenance and repairs, and communicate effectively with management and operators/swampers.
Pay: $40.00-$55.00 per hour
