About the Opportunity
Are you a recent graduate looking to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world field experience? Alba Appliance is offering a hands-on, accelerated Co-op Appliance Technician program designed for motivated individuals ready to launch their careers.
This is a 2-month, unpaid co-op position focused entirely on mentorship, practical training, and skill development. We recognize that top talent learns fast. If you demonstrate the ability, technical aptitude, and customer service skills to perform repairs independently before the two months are up, your co-op will end early, and you will be transitioned into an active, independent role.
Who We Are Looking For
We are specifically looking for candidates who have a strong foundational understanding of electrical or mechanical systems. To be eligible for this co-op, you must meet at least one of the following educational criteria:
- Graduated from an Appliance Technician program.
- Completed a G3 HVAC Gas Technician program.
- Graduated with an Electrician's Diploma or completed a recognized electrical program.
What You Will Do
During this co-op, you will shadow and assist experienced technicians in the field. Your daily responsibilities and learning objectives will include:
- Ride-Alongs: Traveling with senior technicians to residential/commercial service calls.
- Diagnostics: Assisting in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in major household appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, etc.).
- Hands-On Repair: Learning how to safely dismantle appliances, replace defective components, and reassemble units to factory standards.
- Tool & Meter Mastery: Gaining practical experience using multimeters, specialized hand tools, and diagnostic software.
- Customer Service: Learning how to communicate effectively with customers, explain technical issues in plain language, and provide accurate estimates.
Requirements
- Proof of completion for one of the required educational programs (Appliance Tech, G3 HVAC, or Electrical).
- A valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- A strong mechanical aptitude and a deep respect for safety protocols (especially regarding electricity, gas, and water lines).
- A positive, eager-to-learn attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift and move heavy appliances safely.
