About the Role
Platinum Properties & Investments Inc. is seeking a reliable, self-motivated Building Caretaker to oversee the cleanliness, basic maintenance, and day-to-day upkeep of a residential apartment property. This position combines janitorial duties with light handyman and maintenance responsibilities to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.
Responsibilities
Cleaning & Janitorial Duties
Main Entrance & Common Areas
- Clean interior and exterior entrance glass doors
- Vacuum entrance mats and entry areas
- Mop entrance floors
- Empty waste baskets
- Clean and disinfect mailbox covers
- Clean and disinfect intercom panels
- Sweep exterior entrance areas
- Pick up litter around entrances
- Squeegee entrance doors weekly
Lobby Areas
- Vacuum floor mats
- Mop all floors
- Vacuum and clean furniture and chairs as needed
- Dust and clean ledges and horizontal surfaces
- Spot clean walls and light switches
- Clean and disinfect door handles, knobs, and push plates
Hallways & Shared Spaces
- Vacuum hallways and spot vacuum as required
- Perform wall-to-wall vacuuming weekly using commercial equipment
- Spot clean carpet stains as needed
- Spot clean walls and light switches
- Clean and disinfect common area touchpoints
- Dust ledges and horizontal surfaces
- Clean side exit doors and windows
- Clean fire extinguishers
Handyman & Maintenance Duties
- Repair minor drywall damage, holes, and cracks
- Fix leaking faucets and minor plumbing issues
- Replace damaged tiles
- Tighten door, cabinet, and hardware fixtures
- Change light bulbs
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues
- Unclog drains and toilets
- Clean gutters and perform seasonal maintenance
- Hang pictures, mirrors, and artwork
- Install curtain rods and blinds
- Remove and dispose of junk and debris
- Assist with moving heavy items
- Complete minor renovation projects, including:
- Door repairs
- Small painting jobs
- Touch-up work
Qualifications
- Previous janitorial, maintenance, caretaker, or building operator experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing routine maintenance tasks
- Reliable transportation preferred
- Valid driver's license is an asset
