The Role
This is a part-time sessional position from August 15, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The successful candidate will be assigned a coordination role within the Department of Education. The candidate work directly with faculty and staff on the NWP campus to coordinate Bachelor of Education practicums and lead the Teacher Education North program which operates in collaboration with the University of Alberta. Responsibilities of this position include:
- Work collaboratively with instructors, students, staff, and university facilitators to maintain effective operations of the TEN program
- Liaise with the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta, including Undergraduate Student Services and Human Resources
- Maintain program documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance
- Prepare and implement the yearly Academic Schedule and Timetable for the TEN Cohort
- Coordinate BEd field experience and practicum placements
- Organize and instruct Year 4 Advanced Field Experience Seminars
- Plan and implement activities for students including program orientations, workshops, presentations, Travel and Learn rural education tour, Start-Up practicum, Cultural encounters, etc.
- Report to the Department Chairperson and be involved in Department of Education meetings and committees
- Liaise with NWP staff regarding program delivery (timetable, bookings, technology, practicums), student information, and support services
- Collaborate with school division partners to recruit and assist Mentor Teachers for field experiences and practicum placements
- Recruit, train and supervise a team of Practicum Facilitators
- Prepare field experience materials
- Oversee TEN students' field experiences and program progression
- Promote graduate employment opportunities
- Provide administrative assistance to continuing students as needed
Reporting to the Dean, School of Business and Education, additional responsibilities of the TEN Coordinator will be identified from the following areas depending on the expertise and academic qualifications of the applicant:
- Provide feedback on curriculum, field experience, practicum placements, and course delivery within the BEd program
- Ensure accuracy in program cost centre and budget tracking
- Prepare required reporting for post-secondary institutions, committees, meetings, and funding agencies, as needed
- Assist with recruitment of local instructors, hiring, and onboarding processes

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Education (or related field) and 10 years professional experience in K-12 or post-secondary education. School Administrator experience or Instructional experience at the post-secondary level is an asset. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- Knowledge of teacher education and/or the Alberta Education system
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Excellent skills in external relations, leadership, and mentorship
- Technically proficient in education delivery and working knowledge of various applications and software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to employ varied, efficient, and effective collaboration strategies
- Experience with academic, administrative, and field experience policies
