Capital Region Service Commission has a Building Inspector position open. We are looking for a person with technical and administrative skills to guide our customers through the construction of all types of buildings and structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with National Building Code of Canada.
Complete plans reviews and issue Building Permits.
Perform on site inspections for NBCC compliance.
Administer and enforce building by-laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate records.
Support others in NBCC interpretation.
Assist the public with building questions.
Other duties as assigned.
Desirable Training and Experience
1-5 years of relevant experience in building inspection, construction and similar duties.
Must have or be able to obtain NB Certified Building Official certification.
Proficient in knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office software.
Strong communication skills in person, telephone and email.
Ability to work with design professionals, contractors and the public to address NBCC inquiries.
Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Able to collaborate with other authorities and departments to ensure efficient processing of Building Permits and inspections.
Exceptional problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
Able to adapt and facilitate change.
Maintains a valid Class V motor vehicle license and have access to a dependable vehicle.
Required to use your personal vehicle for work. Reimbursement for travel.
Salary and Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Expected salary range: $71,423 - $94,189.

This is a permanent full-time position Monday to Friday with hours 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
