Raise is currently hiring a Network Designer (Intermediate–Senior) on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
Our Client is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Designer to join their network engineering and design team. This role is responsible for designing, planning, and evolving robust, scalable, and secure network infrastructures that support enterprise services and business growth. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise across routing, switching, WAN, and modern network architectures, coupled with the ability to translate business requirements into effective network designs.

Acting as a trusted technical advisor for network strategy and innovation
Responsibilities
- Network Design & Architecture
-
Design and develop scalable, resilient network solutions across LAN, WAN, data center.

Produce high-level and low-level design (HLD/LLD) documents with clear implementation guidance

Evaluate and recommend network technologies, platforms, and vendors

Ensure designs align with enterprise architecture standards and security policies
-
Project Delivery
-
Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and operations teams to deliver network solutions
-
Lead or contribute to end-to-end network design lifecycle, from requirements to implementation handoff

Provide technical leadership on complex initiatives and network transformation projects

Operational Support & Optimization
-
Work with operations teams to troubleshoot escalated network issues when required
-
Identify opportunities to optimize performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
-
Support capacity planning and network performance analysis
-
Security & Compliance
-
Integrate secure design principles (e.g., segmentation, zero trust, access control)
-
Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

Documentation & Standards
-
Maintain accurate network diagrams, standards, and technical documentation
-
Contribute to design guidelines, best practices, and reusable templates
Qualifications
-
5+ years of experience in network design, engineering, or architecture
-
Proven experience designing enterprise-scale networks
-
Experience working in multi-site, hybrid, or cloud-connected environments, SDWAN
-
Strong knowledge of:
- Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
-
Layer 2/3 technologies (VLANs, STP, VXLAN, MPLS)

WAN technologies (IPSec, SD-WAN, MPLS, Internet-based VPNs)

Data center networking architectures (spine-leaf, fabric-based)

Hands-on or design-level experience with:
- Network security (firewalls, segmentation, NAC)

Cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or hybrid connectivity)

Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) is an asset

Nice-to-Have

Experience with SDN and intent-based networking

Exposure to network observability/telemetry platforms

Experience in large enterprise or service provider environments

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise or equivalent)
SDWAN experience is an asset
