As part of the Crew Care Team, the Crew Counsellor & Festival Auditor will play a significant role in supporting crew through wellness-focused check-ins, assisting with problem-solving and providing resources to crew, as well as providing counselling and mediation services as required. Simultaneously, this role will also conduct quality-control audits across festival operations.
Conduct routine check-ins with all SMF departments to monitor crew wellness and operational flow.
Identify emerging concerns related to crew morale, supplies, schedules, communication, or environmental stressors.
Facilitate on-the-spot problem-solving or escalate issues to the appropriate festival leadership channels.
Provide one-on-one counselling support sessions for crew, as required.
Facilitate mediation to help resolve (personal or crew) conflicts through methods of restorative justice.
Observe for signs of burnout or high stress and offer support, resources, or adjustments as needed.
Support adherence to SMF policies and reinforce safe work practices during daily interactions.
Work with SMF Health & Safety staff to support crew.
Maintain brief daily logs to track patterns, recurring challenges, and notable successes.
Recommend improvements or interventions during the festival and contribute insights for future planning.
Ensure crew receive breaks, water, meals, and other basic needs to support wellbeing.
Refer crew to the Sanctuary or another safe space when they appear overwhelmed or in need of additional support.
Provide a neutral, objective ear for crew concerns and ensure grievances are documented and brought forward for resolution.
Record detailed notes for each interaction, positive or negative, including observations and suggestions for improvement.
Monitor quality assurance across festival operations and flag any issues or inconsistencies.
