About the role
Family Eye Care Group is growing across Alberta and Saskatchewan, and growth lives or dies on one thing: getting great optometrists and opticians in the door and keeping them. We're looking for someone who can walk into a room at a conference, an optometry school career fair, or a coffee meeting with a working OD, and make them want to work with us. Part recruiter, part relationship manager, part closer.
What you'll do
● Travel to attend conferences, career fairs, and association events representing Family Eye Care Group (travel costs covered).
● Own the full recruiting cycle: sourcing, first contact, screening, interviews, offer negotiation, close with management team.
● Be the ongoing relationship point for practicing doctors and opticians across the group — check-ins, career conversations, catching flight risk before it becomes a resignation.
● Build and run a standing pipeline of optometrist candidates (new grads and experienced ODs) across AB and SK — school partnerships, association events, referrals, targeted outreach.
● Design and run an early-career track for new-grad ODs (mentorship pairing, ramp-up schedule, first-90-days check-ins) so new hires reach full booking capacity faster.
● Coordinate with the scheduling system (Apps Script schedule feed) to understand capacity gaps and translate them into hiring priorities by location.
● Track and report recruiting funnel metrics and OD retention/tenure by clinic.
● Support locum coverage sourcing for short-term gaps (parental leave, illness, vacation) so patient booking isn't disrupted.
What you bring
● Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
● Comfortable with travel and events calendar
● 3+ years in healthcare recruiting, physician/provider relations, or a closely related field (optometry or optical industry experience is a strong plus, not required)
● Comfortable owning relationships with clinicians — this is not a transactional recruiter role
● Organized enough to run multiple concurrent searches across multiple locations without things falling through
