The Contract Management team within the Contract and Commercial Claims Management Team for North Coast
Transmission (NCT) Project specializes in post-award management of contracts supporting the project. These contracts
include clearing and access, supply (or supply and installation), construction and services contracts. This includes early
involvement and input and support throughout the pre-award process, and then direct management of the contracts from
award through to contract completion.
We’re currently recruiting for one Full-time Regular Contract Manager position located in Prince George for the NCT Project.
Consideration may be given to a Full-time Temporary Contract Manager located at another BC Hydro location, based on
operational requirements.
The Contract Managers have overall accountability for the successful execution of a diverse portfolio of contracts. They
achieve this through the support of multiple Contract Professionals. The Contract Manager leads also fulfills a management
role, leading a team of directly reporting Consultant and Employee Contract Professionals of union and M&P staff.
What you'll do
- Lead a team of employee and consultant Contract Professionals in the delivery of a portfolio of capital equipment
construction, and services contracts.
- Provide management, workload allocation and balancing, mentorship, and guidance to the team, including formal
performance reviews, goal setting and career development.
- Lead or assist in departmental resource planning and recruitment.
- Lead or Support Initiatives for business process and procedure improvements.
- Provide consultation and sound advice on BC Hydro’s position with respect to key/complex contract management
opportunities and/or risks including the validity and impact of claims and contract changes.
- Support Contract Development by working closely with Procurement to help develop supply chain strategies, contracting
plans and draft RFx documents.
- Develop strategies to ensure preservation of BC Hydro entitlements through supplier relationship management and
effective and timely application of contractual mechanisms.
- Manage contract risk, claims, contract changes and disputes.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to develop claims and contract management skills and knowledge within the
team and department.
