To oversee the day to day operations of the before and after school care program and to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all the children and to consult with the management team on all aspects of running the program.
Hours are Monday to Friday 7-9am/2-6pm - Supervisors must be available for both the morning and afternoon shifts.
Average weekly hours are 30, with additional hours available for meetings, pro-d days, and school breaks (Winter, Spring, and Summer).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:
To the Children;
- Supervise and insure the safety and well being of the children all times.
- Foster a warm, empathetic, trusting relationship with children and provide a safe and stimulating program and environment.
- Set and maintain appropriate standard for children's behaviours using direct and indirect methods of discipline, while supporting children's self-esteem.
- Be actively involved with the children.
- Be knowledgeable about children and their family's backgrounds and needs.
- Keep all children's files current.
AND other duties as assigned.
To the Tomorrow's Topkids Child Care Society and Management Team;
- Understand and support the policies and procedures of the Society and the role of the Board Members and Managers.
- Agree to represent TTK positively and respect the Board or Directors and its Managers.
- Be an "ambassador" of TTK in the community.
- Attend regular Head Supervisor meetings and have materials and information requested available.
- Maintain ongoing regular contact with the managers with regards to information sharing, concerns, ideas, etc.
Supervisory Duties Include The Following:
Registrations;
- Read the registration information package and be knowledgeable regarding the program.
- Provide the centre tours to parents who are interested in the centre.
- As per the Registrar's instructions maintain an updated waiting list.
- Ensure program is full. If numbers are low, promote the centre through the school newsletter and other community avenues, in conjunction with management.
- Ensure registration packages are filled out correctly and completely.
- Ensure all registration packages are read and initialed by you and all staff.
- Ensure any and all allergies are posted in staff cupboard and kitchen and signed off by all staff,
management, substitutes and volunteers.
- Ensure all changes in files are put in print by parent/ guardian, dated and READ by all staff.
Attendance;
- Maintain accurate documentation of all staff, substitutes and volunteers.
- Submit staff hours as required for payroll.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all children (monthly attendance sheet as well as daily sign in sheets)
Competencies; The ability to…
- Create, implement and supervise a program appropriate to the needs of the children, which will be fun, safe and offer children a variety of different and exciting activities.
- Provide a clean and stimulating environment and change materials (i.e., art shelves) regularly.
- Assist with the planning (and shop for supplies) of monthly calendar and lesson plans with the input of children and staff.
- Plan and shop for weekly snack menu (monthly), offering a variety of nutritious foods.
- Prepare activities to supplement PD plans and ensure all children are accounted for on PD
- Keep white board current DAILY and document changes.
- Submit newsletter information as requested.
- Submit an inventory list of equipment and supplies every May.
MUST MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH:
Licensing
- License MUST be posted in a conspicuous place.
- Ensure compliance with all CCFL regulation requirements.
- All licensing and health officer reports are brought forth to management.
- Ensure all earthquake and fire procedures are posted and drills are followed through with once a month.
- All incidents and accidents are documented and forms completed, if necessary, and submitted to management.
- Ensure a high quality, professional relationship with licensing officers.
Schools
- Promote and build a working relationship with the school principal, vice principal, secretaries and all custodial staff.
- Build a working relationship with ALL children's teachers.
- Every Monday, ensure that there are no changes, to the week's schedules by checking with school office
- Ensure the centre, kitchen and gym are always kept in a clean, tidy and orderly manner.
QUALIFICATIONS;
Education:
* Must have a minimum 2 years post-secondary in related field and/or a Responsible Adult Certificate or an ECE certificate, or be in training.
