The Columbus Centre Athletic Club, under Villa Charities Inc., is currently seeking a Fitness Centre Attendant with a strong focus on fitness equipment upkeep, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs, while supporting a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members.This role plays a key part in maintaining the operational readiness, safety, and longevity of all fitness equipment through routine inspections, lubrication, minor adjustments, documentation, and coordination with the Maintenance Department.
Key Responsibilities
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS
- Conduct regular and systematic inspections of all cardiovascular and strength‑training equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and proper operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as trained and authorized, including:
- Lubrication of moving parts
- Tightening bolts, cables, and fittings
- Minor mechanical adjustments
- Replacement of basic wear items (e.g., pins, clips, belts where permitted)
- Identify early signs of wear, malfunction, or safety risk and remove equipment from service when necessary, following lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
- Maintain accurate equipment maintenance logs, inspection checklists, and service records.
- Coordinate and communicate equipment issues, repair needs, and parts requirements with the Director of Athletics and the Maintenance Department.
- Support vendor service visits by preparing equipment, providing observations, and assisting with follow‑up tasks as required.
FACILITY SAFETY & MONITORING
- Complete scheduled facility and equipment safety scans, ensuring compliance with established safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain awareness of gym floor activity and address safety concerns proactively, including improper equipment use.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies in accordance with emergency response procedures; complete required documentation and reporting.
CLEANLINESS & ORGANIZATION
- Ensure exercise areas remain clean, orderly, and free of hazards.
- Return displaced equipment to designated locations and ensure proper storage and layout of fitness areas.
· Report janitorial or facility infrastructure issues , know who to contact should janitorial issues arise; forward facility infrastructure concerns to the Director of Athletics.
· Will be responsible for monitoring the Men’s Health Club to ensure all amenities are maintained in a clean, safe, and fully operational condition; reporting any issues to the Director of Athletics; and following up to ensure the timely completion of all assigned duties.
Member Support & Customer Service
- Greet members and guests professionally and courteously.
- Provide basic guidance on safe equipment use and gym etiquette (non‑training).
- Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for members of all backgrounds.
OTHER DUTIES
- Support the Men’s Health Club amenities to ensure they are clean, safe, and fully operational.
- Respond to incidents or emergency situations in accordance with established emergency response procedures. Immediately report accidents, injuries, or emergencies to the supervisor on duty and complete required documentation
- Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of the role.
Qualifications & Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Demonstrated familiarity with fitness equipment mechanics and operation; prior experience with equipment maintenance is a strong asset.
· Experience in a gym, fitness centre, maintenance, facilities, or mechanical support role preferred.
· Ability to safely perform minor equipment maintenance and preventive care following training..
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
· Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
· This role requires the ability to remain attentive for extended periods while monitoring the fitness floor.
· The position involves physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting or carrying equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, as required for operational purposes.
· Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector)
· CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is required or will be provided upon hire.
