YYC Mechanical is looking for a Refrigeration and HVAC Mechanic to join our team.
We are a growing commercial refrigeration and HVAC company based in Calgary. Most of our work is with restaurants, commercial kitchens, and other businesses that rely on their equipment every day. We are looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a company that cares about doing things right.
The right person will be comfortable working on refrigeration, HVAC, and related mechanical equipment. We are looking for someone who can work independently, communicate clearly, and provide professional service to our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
- Service equipment such as walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in coolers, prep tables, ice machines, condensers, evaporators, compressors, fans, motors, and rooftop HVAC units.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including coil cleaning, filter changes, belt inspections, electrical checks, refrigerant checks, and overall system performance testing.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues using proper tools and procedures.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Complete accurate job notes, time entries, photos, parts used, and customer-facing service reports.
- Communicate clearly with customers, dispatch, and team members regarding findings, recommendations, and repair status.
- Follow company procedures, safety requirements, building codes, and proper trade practices.
- Assist with equipment replacements, upgrades, and installation work when required.
- Participate in an after-hours emergency rotation when needed.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, or registered apprentice in the trade, preferred.
- Commercial refrigeration experience is strongly preferred.
- HVAC service experience is an asset.
- Gasfitter B ticket is an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable using mobile apps for work orders, notes, photos, parts, and time tracking.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
- Strong communication skills and a professional customer service attitude.
- Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and work safely around commercial equipment.
