Job Summary
The Town of Colonsay is seeking a motivated and reliable Summer Student Worker to assist with recreation and community maintenance throughout the summer season. Duties may include groundskeeping, lawn care, painting, general repairs, facility cleaning, park maintenance, and supporting community beautification projects and events.
Applicants should be able to work independently and as part of a team while following direction from the Town Foreman and Recreation Board. Experience operating lawn and garden equipment is considered an asset. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Duties
- Groundskeeping and lawn maintenance
- Cleaning and maintenance of recreation facilities and public spaces
- Painting, minor repairs, and general upkeep
- Assisting with park, pool, and community beautification projects
- Operating lawn and garden equipment safely
- Garbage collection and general outdoor cleanup
- Assisting with setup and cleanup for community events and programs
- Watering flowers, planters, and green spaces
- Following direction from the Town Foreman and Recreation Board
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Reliable, motivated, and willing to learn
- Experience operating lawn and garden equipment is considered an asset
- General maintenance experience is considered an asset
Requirements
- Applicants must be aged 15-30
- Applicants must be returning to school in the fall
Pay: $18.00 per hour
