Position Highlights
The Distribution Operations & Grid Operations Engineering teams are responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, resilient,
and efficient operation of the electrical system through advanced operational planning, engineering analysis, outage
management, system restoration, and grid modernization initiatives.
The successful candidate will be recognized as the senior technical resource for Distribution Operations Planning, delivering
expert guidance and engineering leadership across real-time operations, outage planning, operational technologies,
reliability enhancement programs, and strategic system modernization initiatives.
What you'll do
The position includes, but is not limited to, the following capabilities and duties:
- Serve as the recognized technical authority for distribution system operations, reliability, resiliency, outage management,
restoration planning, and contingency planning.
- Development of short- and long-term operating strategies, outage plans, restoration plans, emergency response plans,
and contingency plans to support safe and reliable system operations.
- Conduct and oversee complex power system studies, including load flow, voltage regulation, thermal loading, contingency
analysis, fault studies, reliability assessments, restoration studies, and distributed energy resource (DER) integration
assessments.
- Provide expert engineering support to Real-Time Operations during normal operating conditions, planned outages,
emergency events, and major system disturbances.
- Manage, maintain, test, and enhance grid operations platforms and applications including ADMS, SCADA, EMS, DERMS,
CROW, and PowerON.
- Analyze, validate, and improve system models, network connectivity, operational configurations, telemetry data, and
engineering databases.
- Support the integration of distributed energy resources, automation technologies, advanced applications, and emerging
grid technologies into Real-Time Operations.
- Develop, review, and maintain operating orders, equipment capability switching plans, technical procedures, operating
practices, technical reports, and planning criteria.
- Provide engineering review and approval of planned outages, evaluating operational impacts, system reliability, and safety
requirements to support safe and efficient execution of maintenance and capital projects.
- Develop and document equipment energization and commissioning plans to safely bring new electrical assets into service
