Manitoba Cooperative Hone Producers is seeking a dedicated, mechanically skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician (Journeyperson Millwright or Electrician) to join our team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our plant operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to excellence in maintenance and food safety standards. The shift for this position is Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 10:00pm.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on plant machinery and systems, including boilers and production equipment. Fabricate components as needed and implement cost-effective solutions to technical challenges.
- Support production-line team members with troubleshooting when production equipment is not functioning properly.
Preventative Maintenance Planning:
- Develop and execute maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
Contractor & Subtrade Oversight:
- Help source, evaluate, and supervise external contractors for specialized services such as electrical, boiler, and structural work.
Supply & Inventory Management:
- Maintain adequate stock of tools and parts, and coordinate procurement and pickups as required.
Start-Up & Operational Support:
- Oversee daily equipment start-up procedures in the absence of the Line Operator.
- Provide operational support as needed.
Food Safety Compliance:
- Support HACCP/SQF protocols and ensure accurate documentation of maintenance and safety records.
General Duties:
- Conduct daily inspections, complete pre-checks (e.g., metal detectors), and perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, and extended periods of standing
- Exposure to hot, humid environments, and confined spaces
- Emergency availability (on-call) and flexible work hours
- Occasional travel and frequent, unpredictable deadlines

YOUR BACKGROUND:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational abilities
Preferred:
- 5th Class Power Engineer, Millwright, or Industrial Electrician Red Seal
- Forklift certification, WHMIS orientation, and valid driver’s license
- Welding experience and knowledge of HACCP standards
- Experience designing and implementing preventative maintenance programs
