The Support Educator plays a vital role in the daily operation of the Tiny Trout Learning Lodge Early Years Preschool Program. This position supports children's well-being by ensuring meals are prepared and served safely, the environment remains clean and organized, and staff are provided with appropriate break and lunch coverage.
The Support Educator works collaboratively with Managers and Educators to maintain a nurturing, culturally respectful, and well-functioning early years environment.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Nutrition Support
- Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack
- Follow food safety and hygiene practices
- Support clean-up and sanitation after meals
- Accommodate allergies and dietary needs as directed
Program Support & Coverage
- Provide classroom coverage during staff breaks and lunches
- Support smooth transitions throughout the day
- Assist with supervision as needed
Environment & Laundry
- Wash, dry, and organize program laundry (cloths, linens, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness of shared spaces
- Support daily opening and closing routines
Team Collaboration
- Communicate respectfully with Managers and Educators
- Follow program policies and procedures
- Support a positive, calm, and inclusive environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.

Broad knowledge of child development and best practices for learning.

Ability to demonstrate patience and empathy with all students.

Strong advocate for youth who may be unable to for their own wellbeing.
- Ability to relate to youth of multiple ages and support their growth and development.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality requirements related to student information
Experience:
- Experience working with young children or in an early years setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Respect for confidentiality and professionalism
Education:
-
Completion of a high school diploma is required.

Completion of an Early Childhood Education program or diploma or an equivalent teaching certificate is preferred.
-
First Aid Certification is an asset.

Reporting Structure

The Support Educator reports to the Program Managers and works collaboratively with all staff.
Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on program needs and under the direction of the supervisor.

- Follow workplace expectations including attendance and assigned work activities.
