The E-Invoicing Business Analyst plays a critical role in the design, implementation, and ongoing management of electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) solutions to ensure compliance with global indirect tax and regulatory requirements. This role acts as a bridge between tax, finance, IT, vendors, and external authorities to translate business and compliance needs into scalable system and process solutions.
The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of VAT/GST regulations, e-invoicing mandates, and business process analysis with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional, global environments.
Business & Regulatory Analysis
- Analyze global and regional e-invoicing and real-time reporting mandates (e.g., PEPPOL, clearance models, digital reporting requirements).
- Interpret indirect tax and compliance requirements and translate them into functional and technical business requirements.
- Assess current invoice-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes to identify gaps, risks, and optimization opportunities related to e-invoicing.
Solution Design & Implementation
- Partner with IT, finance, tax, and external vendors to support e-invoicing solution selection, design, and deployment.
- Create detailed documentation including:
- Business requirements documents (BRDs)
- Functional specifications
- Process maps and data flow diagrams
- Validate system configurations and integrations (e.g., ERP, middleware, tax engines).
Stakeholder & Project Support
- Act as a primary liaison between tax, finance, IT, procurement, and external service providers.
- Support project planning, testing cycles (UAT), and go-live readiness.
- Provide clear communication and status updates to stakeholders, highlighting risks and remediation plans.
Testing, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios focused on regulatory compliance and business accuracy.
- Support post-implementation monitoring to ensure sustained compliance and operational efficiency.
- Track regulatory changes and recommend enhancements to existing e-invoicing processes and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
- 4–7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with demonstrated exposure to:
- E-invoicing, digital tax reporting, or indirect tax compliance
- ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics)
- Experience working in global or multi-jurisdictional environments

Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- E-invoicing frameworks (PEPPOL, clearance vs. post-audit models)
- VAT/GST invoice requirements
- Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes
- Familiarity with:
- XML/JSON invoice formats
- Middleware or e-invoicing platforms (e.g., Sovos, Vertex, Avalara, Pagero, Tradeshift)
- Proficiency in process modeling and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Jira, Confluence).
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical system solutions
- Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under regulatory deadlines
