Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee multiple high-speed, high-pressure projects simultaneously. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, consultants, trades, and regulatory authorities from project initiation through close-out.
An engineering background and advanced proficiency in AutoCAD are mandatory. A major component of this role involves the detailed review, coordination, and management of shop drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage overall project delivery including budget, schedule, quality, and risk
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules
- Procure, schedule, and coordinate materials, suppliers, and trades
- Solicit, review, analyze, and negotiate pricing, tenders, and change orders
- Lead the review, coordination, and approval of shop drawings across disciplines
- Coordinate with the project consulting team, third-party engineers, architects, and inspectors
- Liaise with City and Regional authorities, including building, planning, and engineering departments
- Track and manage all RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress reports
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, contracts, and applicable codes
- Coordinate daily activities with in-field construction teams
- Monitor project performance and provide regular reporting to senior management
- Proactively identify and resolve conflicts, delays, and cost impacts
- Manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical background (mandatory)
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Minimum 5+ years experience in construction project management (CM or GC environment)
- Strong experience coordinating shop drawings and technical submittals
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, means and methods
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Knowledge of Ontario building practices, codes, and permitting processes is an asset
