Job Summary
We are a busy, one veterinarian practice located just outside Ivy, ON. We see dogs and cats, as well as exotic species such as birds, reptiles, rabbits, small flock, and pocket pets.
Our hours of operation are:
Mondays - 8 AM to 5 PM
Tuesday - 8 AM to 1 PM
Wednesdays - 8 AM to 5 PM
Thursdays - 8 AM to 1 PM
Fridays - 8 AM to 5 PM
Saturdays - 7:30 AM to 12 PM (we are open every other Saturday).
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician and/or Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, performing laboratory tests, reception duties, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff, as well. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients' health before, during, and after procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
- Educate pet owners on animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including equipment sterilization.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately during examinations and treatments.
Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and procedures is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and strong desire to learn are essential.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Compassionate attitude towards pets and their owners.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical practices is preferred.
- Experience with AVImark is strongly preferred.
- Experience with exotic pets preferred but willing to train.
Salary
- To be determined based upon experience and credentials.
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
