As an Senior Accountant, a typical day might include the following:
- Assist the Controller in managing daily accounting operations, and general ledger activities
- Deal posting, mastercard reconciliation, bank reconciliation, floor plan reconciliation and reconciliation of schedules
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Monitor and reconcile dealership schedules, including vehicle inventory, flooring, and intercompany accounts
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards
- Review deals for accuracy and proper posting in the accounting system
- Support audits and liaise with external auditors as required
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within the accounting department
This job might be right for you if you have:
- Previous experience in an automotive dealership accounting role (required)
- Experience as a Senior Accountant or in an Assistant Controller capacity is an asset
- Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes (including deal posting, inventory, and manufacturer programs)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
