About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Registered Nurse (RN) to join our growing outpatient endoscopy clinic at Elgin Medical Institute in St Thomas. This role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for a nurse who enjoys mentoring colleagues, supporting efficient clinic operations, and delivering exceptional patient care.
As the Lead RN, you will provide nursing care throughout all phases of endoscopic procedures, including pre-procedure assessment, procedural support, sedation monitoring, and recovery care. You will also serve as a clinical resource for the nursing team, supporting onboarding, education, workflow coordination, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care
- Perform pre-procedure patient assessments, including health history review, vital signs, and readiness for endoscopy.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including IV insertion, patient education, consent verification, and safety checks.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Monitor patients receiving moderate sedation and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
- Provide post-procedure recovery care, discharge teaching, and patient education.
- Administer medications and IV fluids in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies and patient deterioration.
- Collect and process specimens according to clinic protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control standards.
Leadership
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and training of new team members.
- Promote adherence to clinic policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Assist with daily patient flow and clinical workflow coordination.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure emergency equipment and crash cart readiness.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and ongoing staff education.
- Escalate operational concerns to the Clinic Manager as appropriate.
Qualifications Required
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
- Proficient computer and documentation skills.
Preferred
- ACLS certification or willingness to obtain.
- Previous experience in endoscopy, procedural nursing, recovery nursing, infusion therapy, or acute care.
- Experience monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation.
- Previous experience supporting staff training, mentorship, or clinical leadership activities.

Pay: $36.00-$45.00 per hour
