Position Overview
As a Community Support Worker, you'll uphold our organizations' values by providing personalized support to individuals experiencing disability. Your role is pivotal in enhancing their independence, fostering their connection to their community, and improving their overall quality of life.
Essential Job Duties
- Support individuals in accessing their community for recreation, employment, and connecting with peers.
- Collaborate as a team to implement individualized person- centered plans.
- Support individuals with skill development including problem solving, conflict resolution, and decision making.
- Follow positive behavior support plans and learn strategies for behaviour management.
- Serve as a positive role model and encourage interpersonal skills development.
- Monitor, report, and document activities, progress, and incidents.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, report safety hazards.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle are required.
- Valid Standard/ Intermediate First Aid Certificate is required
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.
- Preferred: Experience in human services or support roles.
