PURPOSE:
The Machine Operator (In Training) will have a strong background in operating machinery, including Toyo, KHS, Rollstock and Multivac or similar. This role requires mechanical knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Responsible for setting up and operating machinery, checking al controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and standards, equipment troubleshooting, quality control inspections, and data recording.
- Interact with production team members, quality control, quality assurance, and maintenance technicians to improve safety, quality and maximize plant output.
- Refers issues/problems to maintenance and /or packaging supervisor.
- Conduct equipment changeovers to accommodate production demand.
- Assist on other duties as required.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Machine Operation: Start, stop, and monitor packaging machinery ensure smooth production.
- Setup & Adjustments: Configure machines for specific product runs, including adjusting settings for speed, temperature, and bag length.
- Material Management: Refill packaging materials like film, labels, or boxes to prevent downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect final packages for defects, correct labeling, and proper seals; remove faulty products from the line.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine cleaning, minor repairs and Troubleshooting (alignment, sensors and settings)
- Documentation: Keep accurate shift logs of production counts, machine settings, and any malfunctions through ERP systems and KPI documents.
- Safety & Sanitation: Adhere to safety protocols (e.g., wearing PPE) and maintain a clean workspace to avoid contamination.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to withstand cold temperatures as plant is refrigerated.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for long periods of time.
- Ability to work independently, and a part of the team.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be success-driven and have a “can do attitude”.
- Must have reliable transportation as we are not on a bus route.
- Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP principles is preferred.
- Previous experience in a Food Processing Facility is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience as a Machine Operator is preferred but not required.
