We are seeking reliable and experienced Long Haul Flat Deck Drivers to join our team. This role involves operating commercial vehicles over long distances to deliver freight efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate large commercial truck across Canada and the United States, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently from origin to destination, ensuring timely deliveries
- Perform routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels
- Tarping, chaining, strapping, and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and compliance documentation
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding routes, delivery schedules, and any issues encountered during transit
- Conduct basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting if mechanical issues arise during trips
- Operate heavy equipment safely when necessary for loading or unloading freight
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Minimum 1 year of driving experience
- Prior flat deck experience would be an asset
- Winter driving experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in time management and route planning
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to commercial driving and heavy equipment operation
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
